Linkax Sleep Headphones Review: A Big Disappointment

I was on the hunt for a pair of comfortable headphones that I could use for sleep, when I came across these Linkax sleep headphones on Amazon.

I had never heard of the brand before but they were less than thirty dollars so I figured why not try them out? There were also many positive reviews which made it an easy buy.

Once I actually got the headphones though I was a pretty underwhelmed. It just came in this clear plastic bag and there was no branding on it whatsoever.

Nothing about it looked high quality to me but I was still eager to use it. So I gave this thing a shot for a few months and unfortunately it ended up being a big disappointment.

I’ll give my reasoning why in each section below and you can decide if you still want to bite the bullet and buy it.

Design

The design of these Linkax sleep headphones is not bad. It feels lightweight and has a nice stretchy material that easily molds to your head. The speakers inside are also movable so you can make sure they go right over your ear.

The only downside to the speakers is that they aren’t that comfortable at all for sleeping on your side. They kind of dig into your ear a bit which makes it quite annoying. This easily could of been fixed if they just added a little bit more padding.

The location of the controls are right on the front of the headband which is pretty convenient. You just have to long press the play button to turn it off and on. The other two buttons are for turning up the volume or skipping to the next track.

The one thing that sucks with the control panel is that you can really feel it pressing up against your forehead when you have it on. It took me a few nights until I eventually got used to it being there. I would of definitely preferred if there was a little bit of padding between the controls and my forehead.

The charging port is actually located inside of the headband and you have to reach inside a small hole to get access to it. It uses a micro usb port instead of usb c so just make sure you have a compatible charger before you pick this up.

You can also put this headband in the washing machine but you have to pull out the whole bluetooth headphone system first and it is not any easy process by any means.

Each part of the bluetooth system is tucked away in a little pocket and you have to really fiddle around to remove it.

Putting it back inside the headband is the same story. You have to make sure they fit back into these pockets or else the headphones won’t line up properly with your ear. It’s actually quite frustrating and is the worst part of the design.

Sound Quality

The sound quality on these sleep headphones is surprisingly decent. It gets really loud when you crank it up to full volume and you can still hear it well when it’s low. But there is absolutely no bass on these things so if you’re using it for music, don’t get your hopes up.

I mainly use my headset for guided meditations and audiobooks so it wasn’t really a problem for me. I was curious what kind of headphones they were using in this so I took a closer look at them and it honestly looked quite cheap.

They are most likely made in a factory from China for less than a dollar but what can you really expect? After a few months of use the right ear phone stopped working out of nowhere. I wasn’t surprised at all though because you get what you pay for.

Battery Life

The official product description says that this gets about 8 hours of battery life on one charge and I’d say that’s pretty accurate. I’m able to wear them through a full nights sleep without any issue. I would estimate I get around 8-10 hours before i have to charge it.

There is another annoyance i have to mention and it’s when the battery gets low. A loud robot voice will say “battery low!” and it’s quite jarring. Considering this is supposed to be a sleep accessory that voice isn’t relaxing at all.

When the battery is fully charged the light on the front of the headset will turn from red to blue. Once it’s blue you are good to go for awhile. I’m very curious to see how the battery holds up after long term use. I’ll be sure to update this review if anything changes.

Final Thoughts

The Linkax sleep headphones are decently priced, somewhat comfortable and have pretty good battery life. There are some minor annoyances that come along with this headset but you can’t expect much when you are paying less than $30.

I still wouldn’t recommend these though considering the right headphone stopped working after a few months of light use. Save your money and buy something in the 50+ dollar range and I think you will be way more satisfied.
